The focus of this Blog is my opinion and observations about the Cleveland Browns and University of Florida Gators performance, the NFL, SEC and sports in general. Sports history and current sports operations including political and social impact on society. Reader's of my book "They Call It A Game" tell me, without exception that it changed their thinking about the NFL and is as relevent today as ever. Saying they enjoyed reading it is a great bonus.

Ty Law and Peter Boulware are good names to be talking about

Ty Law and Peter Boulware, if they are healthy enough, could help right the Browns ship. Any New England Patriot regular from the past four years can help the Browns to understand what an unselfish winning attitude is. Ty Law has been a clutch player for his entire career and Boulware could win several games a season with his pass rush. To their credit they were injured giving their all for their team/teammates. I hope they have fully recovered. I think very highly of Eagles free agent Middle linebacker Jermiha Trotter and I wish I'd hear the Browns talking about him too.

I don't like the new "no horse collar" tackle rule, partly because it was changed because that is how Terrel Owens got hurt. Not such a good reason to change a rule. Soon the NFL will be playing flag football. I assume you can still drag Owens down by his open mouth.

June 4th I will be in Cleveland with Jim Brown and all my great 1964 Championship teammates. We will be at Normandy High School for an autograph and memerobilia party. The only '64 Browns teammate who won't be there will be Tom Hutchison. Tom is battling inoperable lung cancer at home in Kentucky. He can use all the prayers and good wishes you can give him.

See you in Cleveland at Normandy High School on June 4th, 2005.

Trade Winslow NOW!

Tight end Kellen Winslow will continue to be the focal point of discontent, distraction from the upcoming season. The Winslow situation will be a team and probably equally as important a Browns fan distraction. Winslow seems like a very nice young man and a fine player but the sooner his distraction is out of the Browns picture the better.

It might also free up the salary to sign a player like free agent Eagles Middle Linebacker Jerimia Trotter who is an impact player who could help the Browns to turn around this season.

I'll update and add to this article later today or tomorrow. But I felt like I had to get this off my chest now.

After Giving It Some Thought

JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZU...WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING WINSLOW! The Browns have been counting on you to become a team leader. I don't understand. I hope you recover fully and can give the team 100% but I have some doubts after this motorcycle fiasco. $9.4 million, re-injure your knee, DAMN!! The team is counting on you, what are you thinking.

The only incident I can remmember that is even marginally close to this was when John Wooten, one of the most dedicated, intelligent, courageous players the Browns ever had, turned his ankle playing some half court basketball and Paul Brown told John it would cost him a game salary if he couldn't play that week. As I recall John played but not because of Paul's threat. He played because he wouldn't let his team, his brothers down. Why is it so different today? I recall Monte Clarke having his scrotum sack painfully drained to play and many others who took novacain,....WHAT IN HELL ARE THEY THINKING TODAY?
